We have tried to make Cumberland Bird of Prey Centre as accessible as possible. Over the last two years we have made some infrastructural changes that make the activities and our accommodation more accessible to those with limited mobility.

Increased trackway – we have just completed phase two of a wheelchair accessible trackway that goes around half the centre. This means those with severe mobility can be driven outside our aviaries, reducing the need for movement across the site.

In most cases, we tend to offer a person centred approach, where we can bring birds to a specific area (without making too much fuss about the disability).

We suggest you reach out to us by writing us an email gary.swainson@gmail.com or giving us a phone on 07900 531 032

Parking – there is dedicated disabled parking at our centre.

Accessible accommodation – our second accommodation has a low level ramp which makes this fully accessible, including a large bathroom which can take most wheelchairs. Please note we are currently have a slight ridge into the accommodation which we are looking to resolve.

Assistance Dogs – whilst we cannot allow dogs into the site (birds are scared of them) we do have an area where we can bring each bird in a controlled zone. Talk to us about this.

Large groups – Gary recently completed his care qualification with Amy’s Care (Cumbria) and we are proudly dementia friendly.

If you have any questions in advance of your visit, please let us know.
